The Coordinating Collective serves as an elected board with the overall responsibilities for the oversight and governance of the coordination and implementation of the movement’s strategies, plans, and activities.

As required by section 5.3 of Africans Rising’s constitution, Africans Rising shall hold elections to elect new members to its Coordinating Collective (board) every two years, and the term of the current Coordinating Collective ends in December 2023.

After nomination, applicants will be invited to undergo a vetting process with the Nominations Committee, which will select the final nominees for election to the Coordinating Collective. Once the final nominees are announced, a public voting period will be held to elect the new members of the Coordinating Collective.

Criteria for members to be nominated for Coordinating Collective Elections 2023

The set of criteria outlined below should be reviewed and determined if they can be met to be nominated for consideration for election to the Africans Rising Coordinating Collective for 2023 to 2025 are: 

  1. The nominee must be an Africans Rising member.
  2. The nominee must be an African or a person of African descent.
  3. The nominee must be available and provide time to work on various issues presented by the movement, regularly attend meetings and be responsive to emails.
  4. The person must possess one or all of the following skills and experiences: organisational governance experience, managing people, team player, knowledge and experience with organisational development, cultural awareness and diversity of people, sense of how movements work or experience in movement-building, language capability  (if possible English and other languages), fundraising more especially individual giving, financial management and or conflict management.
  5. At the time of the nomination and election, the person should not hold any political position in any government in Africa and the diaspora.
  6. The nominee must uphold Africans Rising values, constitution and other legal frameworks.
  7. The Nominee must provide/submit their CV and or Resume with the information provided to the Nomination Committee.
