Scope of Work

Solidarity Strategy and Coordination

  • Develop and implement strategic solidarity initiatives guided by the Pan-African Solidarity and Mobilisation Lead.
  • Support the structuring and operationalisation of the Pan-African Solidarity Action Network.
  • Organise and coordinate African civil society to respond to urgent solidarity requests.
  • Contribute to the conceptualisation and coordination of humanitarian solidarity efforts across Africa.
  • Collaborate with movements and partners to amplify solidarity actions and build long-term alliances.

Advocacy, Narratives, and Public Engagement

  • Draft, edit, and review high-impact solidarity statements, articles, and advocacy pieces.
  • Develop compelling narratives that reflect the ethos of Pan-African solidarity and mutual support.
  • Ensure timely, accurate responses to emerging political and social issues, advocating for justice, dignity, and freedom.
  • Represent Africans Rising

Support to Activists and Movements.

Collaborate With Movement Building and Support Unit to:

  • Provide support to frontline activists, movements, and solidarity actions.
  • Build systems for sustaining activist support and security.
  • Provide tailored support to movements by offering organisational guidance, strategic advice, and linkages to the broader Africans Rising network.
  • Ensure that solidarity work is rooted in the needs and aspirations of grassroots actors

Communications and Media

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to disseminate solidarity messages using digital platforms.
  • Utilise storytelling, short-form articles, videos, and graphics to humanize and amplify urgent solidarity appeals.
  • Engage media outlets and social platforms to drive visibility for solidarity campaigns.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Track and document the impact of solidarity efforts and campaigns.
  • Contribute to periodic reports highlighting activities, successes, and areas for growth.
  • Develop best practices and lessons learned from solidarity actions to inform future work.

Required Competencies

  • Strong political awareness and commitment to Pan-African values and activism.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; able to craft persuasive statements under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Quick thinker, problem-solver, and highly adaptive to changing socio-political contexts.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Experience in working with or supporting grassroots movements and activists.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian response and solidarity principles.

Supervision and Collaboration

  • The Solidarity Officer will work closely with the Core Team, Pan-African Solidarity and Mobilisation team, and external partners.
  • The Officer will report directly to the Pan-African Solidarity and Mobilisation Lead.
