About Africans Rising

Africans Rising for Unity, Justice, Peace and Dignity (Africans Rising) is a Pan-African movement of people and organisations, working for justice, peace and dignity for all Africans wherever they live. The movement provides a space for progressive African civil society leaders and groups engaged in various civic struggles to convene, connect, collaborate, share knowledge and build solidarity among people and across issues. Africans Rising promotes citizens’ organising and enables civic movements in their struggles for social justice.

Purpose and objective:

Africans rising is looking for a self-driven pan African:

Who can design compelling campaign narratives, deliver key messages and strategies through audio- visuals .Additionally mobilize Africans to support the cause of Africans rising through delivering the various campaigns.

Scope of work

1.⁠ ⁠Visual Content Creation and optimization

  • Develop and deliver graphics for social media, and other campaign and advocacy communication purposes

  • Produce high-quality videos to publicize campaign and advocacy activities.

  • Design branded visuals, including banners, infographics, and promotional materials for movement building activities.

  • Format and deliver optimized visuals for different platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

2. Collaboration with Teams

  • Participate in team meetings at various levels

  • Incorporate feedback and finalize visuals and videos

3. Storytelling and Messaging

  • Develop at least [X] video or graphic pieces per month that effectively translate complex movement themes into compelling, easy-to-understand visuals.

  • Integrate storytelling techniques to produce emotional and impactful visuals in [X] key campaigns or initiatives per quarter.

4.⁠ Brand Consistency

  • Ensure 100% adherence to branding guidelines in all visual content produced.

  • Update and refine design templates for [X] campaigns or initiatives quarterly, ensuring alignment with the movement’s evolving priorities.

5.⁠ ⁠Creative Innovation

  • Experiment with new design trends, tools, or video styles ensuring content remains fresh and relevant.

  • Propose new creative ideas for visual storytelling to drive movement building and support efforts

6. ⁠Asset Management

  • Maintain a well-organized digital library of design assets, video clips, and project files

  • Archive past projects ensuring easy access and retrieval.

7.⁠ ⁠Feedback and Iteration

  • Gather and analyze feedback on visual content performance for at least [X] campaigns or initiatives.

  • Incorporate insights from feedback into [X]% of future design iterations.

Emerging Platforms:

  • Explore and propose the use of new platforms and features to enhance engagement and visibility.

  • Pilot innovative approaches to social media engagement to maintain a cutting-edge presence.

8. Liaison, reporting and Accountability

Graphics/Video Editor for Campaign and Advocacy will work under the guidance and supervision of the lead campaign and advocacy officer

Desirable’s skills and required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Film, or a related field.
  • Proven portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design and video editing skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Excellent understanding of visual storytelling principles and branding guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in at least one of the following languages is highly desirable: French, Arabic, Kiswahili, or Portuguese.

Desirable:

  • Experience in motion graphics and animation.
  • Knowledge of photography and videography techniques.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the social justice sector.
  • Experience with social media analytics and campaign performance tracking.
