About Africans Rising

Africans Rising for Unity, Justice, Peace and Dignity (Africans Rising) is a Pan-African movement of people and organisations, working for justice, peace and dignity for all Africans wherever they live. The movement provides a space for progressive African civil society leaders and groups engaged in various civic struggles to convene, connect, collaborate, share knowledge and build solidarity among people and across issues. Africans Rising promotes citizens’ organising and enables civic movements in their struggles for social justice.

Key Responsibilities:

1.⁠ ⁠Social Media Strategy Development

  • Strategic Planning:
    – Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the organization’s movement-building goals.
    – Plan content calendars to ensure consistent and strategic posting across all platforms.
  • Trend Monitoring:
    – Stay updated on emerging social media trends and platform updates to keep the movement’s online presence innovative and engaging

2. Social Media Account Management

  • Platform Oversight:
    Create and manage accounts on platforms such as Facebook, X, TikTok, and Instagram.
    Monitor and optimize account performance, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Community Interaction:
    Actively engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions to foster a strong sense of community.
    Host interactive sessions such as live Q&A, polls, or webinars to encourage participation and discussion.

3. Data Management & AnalyticsContent Creation and Curation

  • Creative Development:
    Design and produce high-quality digital content, including graphics, videos, and posts, tailored to the unique audiences of each platform.
    Collaborate with other teams to ensure content aligns with the movement’s mission and campaigns.
  • Content Curation:
    Source and share relevant external content to amplify the movement’s messaging and connect with broader discussions.

4.⁠ ⁠Community Engagement and Building

  • Online Community Management:
    Build and manage online communities to facilitate discussions, share updates, and encourage member participation in activities.
    Create engagement campaigns that connect members and amplify grassroots voices.
  • Member Support:
    Provide guidance and resources to members for using social media effectively in their advocacy efforts.

5.⁠ ⁠Monitoring and Analytics

  • Performance Analysis:
    Use analytics tools to track metrics such as engagement rates, follower growth, and campaign reach.
    Provide regular performance reports with actionable insights to refine strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify and act on opportunities to improve social media engagement and impact based on data trends.

6.⁠ ⁠Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Internal Collaboration:
    Work with campaign leads, communications teams, and other departments to ensure cohesive digital messaging.
    Support the integration of social media into broader movement-building efforts.
  • External Partnerships:
    Engage with influencers, activists, and partner organizations to expand the movement’s reach and visibility.

7.⁠ Innovation and Future Planning

  • Emerging Platforms:
    Explore and propose the use of new platforms and features to enhance engagement and visibility.
    Pilot innovative approaches to social media engagement to maintain a cutting-edge presence.

8.⁠ ⁠ Reporting and Accountability

  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records of social media activities, campaigns, and engagement metrics.
    Submit detailed reports on social media performance and outcomes to the Movement Coordinator.
  • Feedback Mechanisms:
    Implement systems to gather and act on feedback from members and followers to improve digital initiatives.
