Sierra Leone – May 25 – African Liberation Day 2020

Focusing on the solidarity against the spread of COVID-19 to vulnerable populations on the continent, Africans Rising held it’s largest annual mobilization, May 25 – African Liberation Day, under the theme “Active Citizenship in the Fight Against COVID-19”, #Rise4OurLives.

Living under a global health pandemic, it is important that we remember that human rights issues continue to affect communities and we must not lose sight of the important work of advocating for our communities affected by them. This year we focused on hosting discussions and activities that addressed health rights as fundamental human rights and local responses to assist vulnerable communities.

Africans Rising supported Pan-African institutions and organizations in their response to the dire situation facing the continent with a massive awareness and education campaign. Over 2,700 people participated in events across 17 countries, and our online campaign to #Rise4OurLives had over 40,000 engagements.
