2020 Activism Awards Winners

Asha is a Kenyan journalist and activist born and raised in Kibera. She is currently managing Kibra Food Drive, an initiative she started to provide food for communities in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a winner of the award, Jaffar says she hopes she is setting an example of how to redefine activism for Africans.

Tournons La Page works across 10 countries on the African continent to promote democracy and defend human rights.

Among many of its actions, Tournons La Page has supported the observation of the December 2020 elections in Niger, strategic litigation for corruption scandals in Guinea, and strategic litigation in the case of the murder of a human rights defender in the DRC.
