This webinar convenes leading Africa-based social movements, policy advocates, and researchers for a listening session examining the global economic systems that continue to extract wealth from the continent. Speakers will share grounded analysis, strategies, and 2026 priorities for confronting imperial policies and power structures shaping U.S.–Africa economic relations—particularly those driving the transactional and extractive mineral trade.

Drawing on on-the-ground movement building, policy engagement, and advocacy experience, presenters will explore how these arrangements undermine sovereignty, democratic governance, and economic justice across Africa, and how Africa-led responses are reshaping the struggle for accountability.

The discussion will focus on three interrelated economic justice issues central to Africa’s political and economic future: The Debt Crisis, Illicit Financial Flows, and Reparatory Justice. Together, speakers will articulate Africa-led pathways to dismantle extractive economic systems and advance a vision of justice, accountability, and people-centered development.
