Africans Rising calls for mobilisation to restore peace in Cameroon

Since the end of 2016, this Central African nation is going through a major crisis which, in its English-speaking part, pits the army against insurgents who are demanding independence from the central government. The insurgents who are demanding independence chose Buea as the “capital” of the self- proclaimed the state of Ambazonia, which is not recognised by the international community.

Coumba Toure joins Africans Rising as Co-Coordinator

From Mali and , Senegal based feminist, writer, artist and human rights activist, Coumba Toure was recently appointed as Co-Coordinator of Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity. Kumi Naidoo, Africans Rising Chair said: “Africans Rising is delighted and fortunate to have a person of the calibre and experience of Coumba to work with Muhammed Lamin Saidykhan to lead the movement to deliver on the founding charter, the Kilimanjaro Declaration’’.
